Milton, MA - The Curry Softball team took on Gordon in CNE play on Saturday, splitting the doubleheader by winning game one 3-1, before falling in game two 2-1. The Colonels are now 10-10 on the season, and 3-3 in CNE play. The Fighting Scots are now 7-15 and 2-6.

Game One

The Colonels would grab a 1-0 lead in the second inning after Natalia O'Kleasky led the inning off with a double. She moved to third on a sacrifice bunt, and then scored on another sacrifice bunt. Katie Tobin, who had the first RBI, got another in the fourth on a double. She then scored on an error to make it 3-0. Gordon would make things interesting in the seventh, scoring a run, and getting the tying run on base, but they were unable to push any more runs across.

Jillian Rogers pitched for the Colonels, going all seven innings, allowing just the one run on eight hits. She struck out nine. She struck out her sixth batter in the fourth, becoming just the third player in program history to hit 400 career strikeouts, joining Taylor Ahearn '15 and Kim Sturgis '07. She would later pass Ahearn (401 career strikeouts) for second all time. Only Sturgis, with 587, has struck out more batters than Rogers.

Game Two

The Fighting Scots put up a run in the first, and then both teams would be quiet until the sixth. The visitors would score on a bases loaded walk in the top half of the inning, but then the Colonels had their only true threat of the game. They would score on a wild pitch, and had the tying run on third. But a failed squeeze bunt attempt left that runner caught in a run down, eventually getting tagged out. But each of the next two batters reached base, and the Colonels had runners on second and third with two outs. But the Colonels batter would strikeout to end the inning. The Colonels would get a runner to second in the seventh, but were unable to tie things up.

Up Next - Weather permitting, the Colonels will travel to Roger Williams on Sunday.
