CLERMONT, Fla. - The Curry College softball team cruised past Beloit College 16-0 in five innings on Friday evening in non-conference action at Hancock Park.

With the win, Curry improves to 2-5 overall on the season.

Curry scored early and often in the victory. Junior Kayla Georgeu (South Easton, Mass.) opened the scoring with a second-inning sacrifice fly, before Curry extended its lead to 2-0 when Madelyn White (Franklin, Mass.) scored on a passed ball a batter later.

In the fourth, the Colonels added four more to extend their lead to a half dozen, highlighted by a two-run single by sophomore Jordan Ferullo (Burlington, Mass.).

Curry broke it wide open with 10 runs in the top of the fifth inning. Natalia Okleasky (Coventry, R.I.), Emily Bussiere (Stow, Mass.), Taylor McDermott (Durham, Conn.), Lexi Buckner (Foxboro, Mass.), and Sienna Kulpa (Taunton, Mass.) all had run-scoring doubles in the frame.

Freshman Hailey King (Cranston, R.I.) hurled her first collegiate win in the circle, throwing three shutout innings while allowing just three hits and striking out two. Classmate Jillian Rogers (East Freetown, Mass.) threw two shutout innings in relief to seal the win.

Curry will close out its Florida Spring Break trip on Saturday morning with a doubleheader against Union and Simpson. First pitches are scheduled for 10:15 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.
