PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Curry College softball team dropped a pair of games at Johnson & Wales University on Sunday afternoon, falling by final scores of 11-3 and 9-0 at the SMAC Softball Field.

Alexis Buckner (Foxboro, Mass.) went 3-for-3 with an RBI and a walk to lead the Curry offense.

Game One – JWU 11, Curry 3 (6 innings)

After falling behind 4-0 after three innings, the Colonels scored twice to cut the deficit in half. Senior Jocelyn Dimond (Weare, N.H.) helped deliver Curry's first run with a single down the left field line, which plated sophomore Emily Bussiere (Stow, Mass.), and senior Taylor Newcomb (Millville, Mass.) singled to center to plate classmate Jordan Perzan (Burlington, Conn.) to make it a 4-2 game.

The Wildcats responded with four in the home half of the fourth to distance themselves from the Colonels. They would add one more in the bottom of the fifth to increase the lead to 9-2.

Curry plated one more in the contest on a single up the middle from Buckner, which scored Dimond.

JWU got two across on the bottom of the sixth to end the game via the eight-run mercy rule.

Newcomb took the loss, allowing four runs (all earned) on eight hits over 3.0 innings.

Game Two - JWU 9, Curry 0 (5 innings)

The Wildcats once again jumped ahead early, scoring once in the first inning and five more in the fifth.

JWU plated three more to increase the margin to 9-0 to end the contest via the eight-run mercy rule.

The Colonels were held without a hit in the contest.

Freshman Caitlyn Wood (Saugus, Mass.) got the starting nod and surrendered 6 runs (all earned) on eight hits in the loss.
