DUDLEY, Mass. – The Nichols College softball team saw its season come to an end with a 2-0 loss in eight innings to Curry College in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) play-in game Friday afternoon at the Nichols Softball Field.
Curry junior Mikayla Lambert (Blackstone, Mass.) held the Bison to three hits over 7.2 innings of work to earn the win. She did not walk a batter and struck out four. Classmate Rebecca Black (East Greenwich, R.I.) came on to record the save, retiring junior Kendall Meehan (Danvers, Mass.) on a grounder to short with the tying runs on base to end the game.
The contest will mark the 56th all-time meeting between the two schools. The Colonels hold a 34-22 edge and won two of the three meetings this season, both in extra innings.
