MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College softball team dropped a non-conference tilt with visiting Suffolk University on Wednesday afternoon, falling in game one 7-4 and losing the night cap 6-1 after the game was shortened due to inclement weather. The Colonels drop to 13-25 on the season.

Game One

The Colonels found themselves down three after the top of the first inning, allowing three runs to the visiting Rams. Curry responded, pushing one run across in the bottom half of the inning on a single by Sophomore Rachel Byrd (Hampstead, N.H.). Junior Marissa Bruno (Milford, Conn.) came across for the Colonels. After one, Curry trailed 3-1.

Suffolk pushed another run across in the top of the second inning, pushing their lead to 4-1. Curry would find a way to answer again, this time plating two runs in the bottom of the inning. Bruno singled, allowing Sophomore Carolyn Lynch (Ipswich, Mass.) and Sophomore Morgan Bogardus (Cortlandt Manor, N.Y.) to cross the dish. Curry trailed by one after two complete, 4-3.

Curry evened to score at 4-4 in the bottom half of the fifth inning. Sophomore Kevi Oatway (East Hartford, Conn.) singled to centerfield bringing Sophomore April Adams (Burlington, Mass.) around to score.

Suffolk managed to push across three more runs in the game, scoring one in the top of the sixth and two in the top of the seventh. Curry battled in both innings, but couldn't push any runs across.

Sophomore Mikayla Lambert (Blackstone, Mass.) to the loss for the Colonels after throwing all seven innings, scattering 11 hits and seven runs while striking out two and walking two.

Game Two

Game two started as a pitching duel with both teams scoring no runs through the first three innings. Suffolk got on the board first in the top half of the fourth inning. The Rams pushed two across in the inning to take a 2-0 lead. Curry responded with a run of their own in the bottom half of the frame, Junior Mikayla Koronan (Bellingham, Mass.) tripled to right field to drive in Oatway.

The Rams struck again in the top of the fifth, pushing four run across in the inning. Curry couldn't get anything offensive going in the latter half of the game as the weather started to worsen. The game would be called short after the bottom of the sixth inning as the weather got too bad to play in.

Sophomore Rebecca Black (East Greenwich, R.I.) took the loss for the Colonels allowing seven hits and six runs in her time in the circle while walking one.
