The game was essentially a pitchers’ duel between Curry’s Lundstrom and Eastern Nazarene sophomore Kori Sorensen (Quincy, Mass.). Lundstrom kept the Lions hitless through the first six frames. Sorensen surrendered just two hits through her first five innings of work.
In the bottom of the sixth, Flaherty led off the inning with a home run over the left-field fence on a 3-2 count. Lundstrom lost her no-hit bid with two outs in the top of the seventh, giving up a clean single through the right side by junior Cayla Clinkscale (Winchendon, Mass.). She bounced back to strike out junior Abigail Moore (Sheriden, Calif.) to end the game.
Lundstrom (8-7) struck out 12 over seven innings, while Sorensen (8-10) walked one and fanned nine in her six innings of work.
Curry (23-16) will take on #3 Western New England on Monday at 2:30 p.m. at Roger Williams. Eastern Nazarene wraps up its season at 10-24.
