Mayo Named to TCCC All-Conference Softball Squad

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Student-athletes from 12 institutions who sponsor softball in The Commonwealth Coast Conference were represented on the 2011 All-TCCC Softball Team and major awards, announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye. The honorees included Curry College senior Janelle Mayo, who received honorable mention accolades.

In addition to the all-conference team, winners of five major individual awards and the team sportsmanship award were also selected. Endicott freshman Jennie Lacolla was named TCCC Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, Endicott senior Jenna Bortolotti was picked as TCCC Pitcher of the Year, Eastern Nazarene’s Bethany Greenfield was honored as TCCC Senior Scholar Athlete of the Year, University of New England’s Dan Letellier was honored as TCCC Coach of the Year, and Wentworth Institute of Technology was the recipient of the Team Sportsmanship Award.

Voting for the All-TCCC team and each of the major awards was conducted among TCCC softball coaches.

Joining Bortolotti , and Lacolla (first base) on the first team were infielders Ashley Gott (C, U. of New England), Jesse Bilafer (2B, Endicott), Jocelyn Russo (3B, Endicott), Hannah Pirez (SS, Roger Williams), outfielders Amber Burns (Eastern Nazarene), Ashley Wright (Endicott), Rachel Wyrwa (Western New England College), designated player Marie Mantelli (U. of New England), and utility player Liz Cheesman (Gordon).

Second team infielders included Krista Fales (C, Endicott), Trish Breault (1B, Western New England), Erica Castro (2B, Roger Williams), Jill Hurley (3B, Anna Maria) , Jeana Longo (SS, Western New England), outfielders Maegen Johnson (U. of New England), Allasyn Lieneck (Nichols), Christina Walsh (Salve Regina), designated player Rachel Morrisey (Gordon), pitcher Jaclyn Doolin (Roger Williams), and utility player Melinda Robbins (New England College).

Receiving honorable mention were infielders Chelsea Correia (C, Nichols), Emily Borden (1B, Gordon), Allyssa Boykin (2B, Anna Maria), Taylor Flemming (2B, Eastern Nazarene), Kerry McPartlan (3B, Gordon), Mattie Brett (SS, Endicott), outfielders Casey Brigham (U. of New England), Sarah Grill (Roger Williams), Hayley Hovhanessian (Endicott), Mary Moroski (Anna Maria), pitcher Sarah Lempicki (Western New England), and utility players Janelle Mayo (Curry) and Marissa Simpson (Salve Regina).
