Men's Tennis Falls To Eastern Nazarene In CCC Action, 9-0

WEYMOUTH, Mass. – The Curry College men's tennis team dropped a 9-0 conference match to visiting Eastern Nazarene College at the Weymouth Club. The inclement weather forced the match to be played indoors. The win moves the Lions to 13-3 overall and 5-1 in the CCC while the loss drops the Colonels to 6-10 overall and 1-6 in conference play.

Eastern Nazarene started the match with a sweep of doubles play, two of which came in tight battles. The Lions' first doubles pair of Alex Partyka (Moskow, Russia) and Henry Siercke (Hamburg, Germany) edged Curry's Aidan Roach (Norwell, Mass.) and Dawson Stento (Wellesley Hills, Mass.), 8-5. Eastern Nazarene took the number two doubles point after Santiago Camero (Toronto, Ontario) and Shaw Campbell (Redding, Calif.) topped the Colonel tandem of Richie Hefler (Canton, Conn.) and Ryan Sullivan (Winnetka, Ill.) in a close 8-6 final. The Lions then completed the sweep of the doubles portion when Kyle Pierson (Redding, Calif.) and Davis Steelman (Darlington, Md.) took down Curry's third doubles team of Zach Muller (Methuen, Mass.) and Ben Higgins (Yarmouth, Maine) by a final tally of 8-0.

Eastern Nazarene continued their strong play in the singles portion, capturing all six points. Partyka took down Roach at first singles by a final of 6-3, 6-0. Kaden Swarr (Brighton, Colo.) took down Sullivan in two tight sets, 6-4 and 7-6. Laurent Ruttkowski (Castrop-Rauxel, Germany) defeated Stento at the third singles flight, 6-0 and 6-4. Camero topped Hefler to win the fourth singles point with a straight set 6-2, 6-0 victory. Muller fell at number five singles to Pierson by identical 6-1 scores. Steelman closed out the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Higgins at the sixth singles spot.

Curry return to action on Monday when they travel to Bridgewater State for a 3:30 p.m. match. Eastern Nazarene will next play Monday as they will welcome in Nichols for a 3:00 p.m. start time.
