Men's Tennis Tripped Up 9-0 by Visiting Eastern Nazarene

MILTON, Mass.  – The Curry College men's tennis team fell to visiting Eastern Nazarene College 9-0 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men's tennis action Wednesday afternoon in Milton. The Colonels fell to 0-12 overall and 0-8 in the league while the Lions improved to 9-7 and 3-4 in the CCC.

Valvel Temin (Swampscott, Mass.) fell to senior Sam McKay (Rehoboth, Mass.) 6-0, 4-6, 10-4 to start off the single matches. Junior Charlie Paltsios (Westford, Mass.) lost to senior Sam Son (Wilbraham, Mass.) 6-1, 6-0 in the #2 matchup. Freshman Andrew Hegarty (East Islip, N.Y.) was defeated by junior Kevin Paterno (Buenos Aires, Argentina) 6-4 and 6-0. Junior Davis Steelman (Darlington, Md.) bested senior Joe Berger (Middleboro, Mass.) in two 6-0 sets. Senior Jonathon Schutzman (Bellmore, N.Y.) was swept by Tyler Perron (Plympton, Mass.) 6-0, 6-0. Finally, sophomore James Murphy (Malden, Mass.) fell to junior Greg Parenteau (Wolcott, Conn.) 6-1, 6-2 in the last of the singles matchups.

Curry was also swept in the doubles matchups with the first pairing of Paltsios and sophomore Nick Poulack (Amherst, N.H.) dropping their matchup with freshman Vladislav Tolmachev (Perm, Russia) and Son, 8-1. Temin and Berger were bested by sophomore Andres Biondi (Barquisimeto, Venezuela) and Steelman, 8-2. Finally, junior Shane Harrington (Mansfield, Mass.) and sophomore Jake Heisinger (Winnipeg, Manitoba) fell to McKay and Perron, 8-0, ending the match 9-0 in favor of Eastern Nazarene.

The Lions are scheduled to host Salve Regina University Saturday at 1p.m. for their regular-season finale. The Colonels return to action as they host Newbury College Friday at 3:30 p.m. for their season finale.
