Men's Tennis Edged at Non-Conference Foe Salem State, 5-4

SALEM, Mass. - Salem State earned their first victory of the season, as the Vikings defeated Curry College, 5-4 at Rockett Arena on Tuesday afternoon. Salem State is now 1-5 on the season while Curry remains winless at 0-4.

John Didonato (Newbury, Mass.) and  Matt Mogren (Newburyport, Mass.) teamed to win their first match at first singles, defeating Toma Blatchford (Westmount, Quebec) and Charlie Paltsios (Westford, Mass.) 8-3. The Colonels earned a win at second doubles when Nick Poulack (Amherst, Mass.) and Andrew Hegarty (East Islip, N.Y.) topped David Dluznieski (Auburn, Mass.) and Conner Erickson (Hubbardston, Mass.), 8-6. The Vikings earned a win at third doubles in a forfeit by the Colonels.

Didonato won at second singles, defeating Paltsios in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Blatchford took first singles for Curry while Poulack beat Erickson at third singles. Hegarty kept Curry in the hunt with an 8-3 win over Dluznieski at fourth singles, before Drew Nekoroski (Beverly, Mass.) won a big point for Salem State, 7-5, 6-0 over Jonathon Schutzman (Bellmore, N.Y.) at fifth singles. Salem State earned another point at sixth singles in a forfeit.

Salem State travels to MIT for a 4:00 PM match while Curry is at Western New England tomorrow for a 3:30 start.
