Men's Tennis Defeated 7-2 by Visiting Wentworth
MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College Men’s Tennis team fell to visiting Wentworth, 7-2, in a Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) match on Sunday in Milton. With the win, the Leopards improve to 4-4 overall and 2-3 in league play. The Colonels fall to 0-12 overall and 0-5 in conference action.

Wentworth got straight-set singles wins from four players. Junior Juan Rodriguez (Quito, Ecuador) defeated junior Tyler Collins (Oyster Bay, N.Y.), 6-0, 6-0, at #1; senior Nate Gove (Scarborough, Maine) took care of junior Lucas Donaway (Foxboro, Mass.), 6-1, 6-3, at #3; sophomore Andy Chen (New Taipei City, Taiwan) knocked off freshman Eric Hellberg (Somers, N.Y.), 6-4, 6-1,  at #5; and senior Matt Levine (Brockton, Mass.) defeated freshman Jonathon Schutzman (Bellmore, N.Y.), 6-1, 6-2, at #6.

The Leopards got their fifth singles point from senior Joe Centola (Hopkinton, Mass.), who outlasted freshman Cameron Chamberlain (Scituate, Mass.), 5-7, 6-3, 1-0 (10-7) , at #2.

Freshman Joe Berger (Middleboro, Mass.) picked up Curry’s lone singles point by handling freshman Dylan Melnik (Wake Forest, N.C.), 6-0, 6-2, at #4.

Earlier, in the doubles competition, the visitors went 2-1, as Gove and Rodriguez knocked off Collins and Chamberlain, 8-3, at #1; and Centola and Melnik blanked Donaway and Berger, 8-0, at #2. The Colonels captured the #3 doubles match, as Hellberg and Schutzman edged Chen and Levine, 8-6.

Both teams resume play on Tuesday with 3:30 p.m. CCC road matches, as Wentworth visits Salve Regina and Curry travels to Nichols.
