Men's Lacrosse Taken Down by Salve Regina on Senior Day

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's lacrosse team suffered an 18-7 defeat at the hands of Salve Regina University Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Walter M. Katz Field.

With the defeat, Curry falls to 4-9 overall on the season and 1-5 in the CCC.

Before the game, Curry honored its five seniors in a special Senior Day ceremony. Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.), Joe Stronach (Marshfield, Mass.), Robbie Tartaglia (Wrentham, Mass.), Zach Weinstein (Davie, Fla.), and Dom Cerone (Hanover, Mass.) were joined on the field by their families and friends for the ceremony.

Cerone opened the scoring for the Colonels just over a minute into the contest, but from there it was all Seahawks the rest of the half. Salve Regina scored 11 unanswered goals in the first half to take an 11-1 lead to the break.

In the third, the Seahawks narrowly outscored the Colonels by a margin of 4-3. Curry got a pair of goals from Cerone in the period, with junior Chris Silva (Middletown, R.I.) netting the other.

Both teams scored three times in the final 15 to give the game its final score of 18-7. Cerone, Silva, and Stronach scored Curry's fourth quarter markers.

Freshman Niko DeCola (Weymouth, Mass.) and junior Austin Brown (Scarborough, Maine) split the net for Curry on the afternoon. DeCola made seven saves on 18 shots in the first half, with Brown stopping nine of 16 in the second half.

Next up for the Colonels, they will play their final home game of the season on Tuesday against Endicott. Faceoff is slated for 4 p.m.
