SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Curry College men's lacrosse team dropped a 17-6 decision to Western New England University Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at Golden Bear Stadium.
With the defeat, the Colonels fall to 4-7 overall on the season and 1-3 in the CCC.
The Golden Bears came out the gate red hot, outscoring Curry 8-1 in the opening quarter. Curry's lone marker in the frame came from sophomore Brody Dalzell (Wrentham, Mass.).
The Colonels outscored Western New England 3-2 in the second quarter to go to the break trailing 10-4. Junior Pat Modoono (Billerica, Mass.), sophomore Mac Kline (Essex, Conn.), and junior Connor Bryant (Methuen, Mass.) tallying Curry's second quarter goals.
Curry could not close out the comeback on the evening, scoring just once each in both the third and fourth quarters as Western New England cruised to the conference victory. Bryant scored Curry's third quarter goal, with senior Dom Cerone (Hanover, Mass.) finding the back of the net early in the fourth.
In net, Austin Brown (Scarborough, Maine) made five saves in the first quarter before being replaced by freshman Niko DeCola (Weymouth, Mass.). In the final 45 minutes of action, DeCola turned aside 15 shots.
Next up for the Colonels, they will be off for over a week before hosting Nichols College on Wednesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. at Walter M. Katz Field.
