Men's Lacrosse Takes Down Norwich in Overtime

NORTHFIELD, Vt. - The Curry College men's lacrosse team earned an 8-7 overtime victory over Norwich University on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Sabine Field.

With the win, the Colonels improve to 3-4 overall on the season.

Norwich jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on a pair of goals in the contest's first 75 seconds. The Colonels limited the damage however, scoring the final three goals of the first quarter to hold a 3-2 lead at the end of one. Junior Connor Bryant (Methuen, Mass.) opened the scoring for Curry at the 10:14 mark, followed by back-to-back goals from senior Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.).

The Cadets scored the only two goals of the second quarter to take a 4-3 lead into halftime.

Curry outscored Norwich 3-2 in the third quarter to head to the fourth knotted at 6-6. Senior Robbie Tartaglia (Wrentham, Mass.) and sophomores Mac Kline (Essex, Conn.) and Brody Dalzell (Wrentham, Mass.) scored Curry's third quarter markers.

Norwich took the lead just over five minutes into the fourth quarter, but their one-goal advantage last less than two minutes, as Perfetuo completed his hat trick to tie the score back up and eventually force overtime.

The Colonels took advantage of a man-up opportunity 2:45 into the extra session when Perfetuo ripped a shot past the Norwich netminder on the stick side to give Curry the 8-7 victory. Junior Pat Modoono (Billerica, Mass.) earned the assist on the game-winning goal.

In the victory, the reigning Commonwealth Coast Conference Defensive Player of the Week Austin Brown (Scarborough, Maine) turned away eight Cadet shots to earn his third vcitory of the season.

Next up for Curry, they will return home to face Mount Saint Mary College on Saturday afternoon. Faceoff is slated for 4:30 p.m.
