Lions Outlast Colonels in Overtime Bout

NORTON, Mass. - The Curry College Men's Lacrosse team fell to non-conference opponent Wheaton College Wednesday evening by a final score of 7-6.
With the loss, the Colonels fall to 2-2 on their season. With the win at home, Wheaton continues their unbeaten streak, now 6-0.
The hosting Lions grabbed an early lead despite the evening flurries on Nordin Field. Finding the back of the net on four occasions to Curry's zero in the opening half. Wheaton's Max Cooper, Alex Berg, Shane Ross, and Alec Morin all found an opening past Curry's Evan Falandys (Leominster, Mass.) in the opening half.
The Colonels surged forth following the intermission, freshman attacker Tim Sullivan (East Walpole, Mass.) getting his side on the board just three minutes into the half. Curry's Dane Hanson (East Providence, R.I.) netted Curry's second of the evening, assisted by Robbie Tartaglia (Wrentham, Mass.). Goals from Dane Hanson and Brody Dalzell (Wrentham, Mass.) in the waning moments of the third quarter sent both sides into the final period of play with the Colonels trailing 4-5.
Curry's Hanson found the back of the net for the third occasion Wednesday evening, tying the contest at five goals each. Wheaton gained the lead with just 10 seconds remaining in regulation with an unassisted goal from junior attacker Robert Sullivan.
Curry would not stand to let the Lions take the contest in the final moments of the night's contest, Nick Perfetuo (Norwell, Mass.) bursting forth on the attack to net a shot with three seconds remaining sending the non-conference bout into overtime.
With the contest tied 6-6, the two sides battled on the snow-covered Nordin Field for 3:09 until Wheaton's Shane Ross decided the contest, finding an opening past Curry's goalkeeper Bobby Cannan (Bernardsville, N.J.), closing out the evening matchup 7-6 in favor of the hosts.
