Men's Lacrosse Picks Up Signature Win Over Endicott On Senior Day, 11-10

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's lacrosse team picked up a signature victory by defeating defending Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament Champions Endicott College on Saturday afternoon at Walter M. Katz Field, 11-10. The win moves the Colonels to 8-4 overall and 3-2 in the CCC while Endicott sits at 4-9 on the season with a 4-2 mark in the league play. Matt Serra (Haverhill, Mass.) netted his 100th career goal during the contest.

Curry got on the board first just 1:54 into the contest on an unassisted tally from MJ Urbano (Wakefield, Mass.). The Gulls answered back with a goal 29 seconds later on a strike from Andrew Soucy (Andover, Mass.) with the assist going to Jack Sutherland (Sudbury, Mass.). Soucy was back in the action six minutes later with an unassisted marker. Andrew DeLeary (Wakefield, Mass.) snapped the two-goal run when he found the back of the net off a helper from Serra while Matthew Scahill (Gales Ferry, Conn.) closed the quarter with a goal with just 20 seconds left to give the Colonels a 3-2 lead after one.

Curry opened the scoring in the second and went on to outscore Endicott 2-1 in the stanza. Nick Arcadipane (Groveland, Mass.) knotted the game at three 1:36 into the frame on an unassisted marker. DeLeary and Devin Newell (Medford, Mass.) each scored over the final 9:05 to send the Colonels into the half with a 5-3 advantage.

The squads came out of the break and traded separate 4-0 runs in the third. Arcadipane and Will Clark (Burnt Hills, N.Y.) alternated goals on the run, spanning the first 5:25 of the quarter to grab a 7-5 lead. Serra snapped the run with his milestone goal off an assist from Chris McGreevy (Rocky Point, N.Y.) and an unassisted goal from Tom Cashin (Boxford, Mass.) tied the game at seven with 6:27 left. Urbano and Cashin capped the run to give Curry the 9-7 lead at the end of three.

Endicott pulled to within one to begin the final stanza of play on a shot that found the back of the net from Soucy. Newell and DeLeary tallied one apiece to stretch the advantage to three, 11-8 with 11:14 left in regulation. The Gulls were able to find two goals, one from Myles Horn and the final from Soucy but the visitors were unable to find the equalizer as Curry came away with the one-goal victory.

DeLeary paced the Colonels with four points on a hat trick plus an assist. Cashin finished with three points on two goals and a helper while Urbano and Newell secured multi-goal efforts. Zach White (Milford, Conn.) was dominant at the faceoff X, going 15-for-25. White also picked up a team-high seven groundballs.  

Soucy poured in a game-high six points on four goals and two assists. Arcadipane accounted for four points on a hat trick and an assist. Clark was the only other Gull to record multiple points on the afternoon.

Jake Sangiovanni (Centerport, N.Y.) picked up the win in the cage for Curry. The freshman converted five saves against eight shots in 24:35 of game action. Patrick Dean (Westhampton, N.Y.) was credited with the loss, making 11 stops for Endicott facing 22 shots.

Curry hits the road for a two-game road trip beginning on Wednesday, April 18 at the University of New England at 4:00 p.m. Endicott will host Middlebury on Tuesday at 6:00 p.m.
