WHITTIER, Calif. – The Curry College men's lacrosse team fell to Whittier College by a final of 10-6 on Tuesday afternoon in Whittier, Calif. The Poets improve to 4-1 on the season while the Colonels fall to 2-2.

Matt Serra (Haverhill, Mass.) tallied the first goal in the contest off a pass from Devin Newell (Medford, Mass.) at the 11:32 mark to get Curry on the board.

The Poets then embarked on a 10-0 run that spanned from 10:38 in the first quarter to 13 seconds left in the fourth. The run featured five different goal scorers, led by Nate Heritage (Bellingham, Wash.) four goals. Nick Angileri (San Jose, Calif.) and Ashton Pieris (Burien, Wash.) had two goals apiece on the run while Nick Hernandez (La Mesa, Calif.) had one.

Curry would fight back in the final quarter of action, tallying five goals. Jack McMenomey (West Linn, Ore.) started the run when he scored a man up goal on a helper from Newell. The next Curry goal came at the 10:38 mark after Jake Stebbins (Colchester, Vt.)  found the back of the net to cut the deficit to seven. Newell would register two goals in a row to trim the lead to five. The game scoring would end on an unassisted goal from Wade Prajer (Southbury, Conn.).

Newell led Curry with five points on two goals and two assists while Heritage and Evan Price (San Diego, Calif.) finished with four points each to pace the Poets.

Alex Cramer (Rocky Hill, Conn.) picked up the win in the cage, making seven saves in 54 minutes of action. Josh Teller (Milford, Conn.) was credited with the loss, registering 11 saves.

Curry will next play at home on Saturday against Rivier at noon. Whittier will host Rensselaer on Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
