Men's Lacrosse Absorbs 15-5 Conference Loss to Visiting Roger Williams
MILTON, Mass. – Curry College lost to the visiting Hawks of Roger Williams University in men's Lacrosse action, 15-5, on Saturday in a Commonwealth Coast Conference game. With the win, RWU improves their record to 6-4 overall and 4-0 in CCC play. Curry's record drops to 6-4 overall and 0-3 in CCC play.

RWU came out strong and dominated the first half of play scoring seven goals to Curry’s two.  John Ricciardi (Duxbury, Mass.) started the scoring run at 12:34 in the first.  Adam Todd Carson (Pennington, N.J.) followed suit just 59 seconds in the second with an assisted goal by junior Drew Beck (South Salem, N.Y.). Curry scored their first of the game just 1:05 minutes later. Senior Sean Gallagher (Topsfield, Mass.) received a pass from freshman John Castellano (Scarsdale, N.Y.) to put the Colonels on the board. The Hawks went on to score the next four goals with 8:01 left to play in the second quarter. Beck received his first goal by an assist from junior Ian Powers (Shrewsbury, Mass.).  Powers followed up with his own goal from a pass from sophomore Jon Nessa (Concord, Mass.). Ness was able to score just 17 seconds later putting the Hawks up 4-1. Senior Adam Vorwald (South Setauket, N.Y.) had his only point from an assist by teammate Beck. Castellano managed to get the Colonel’s one more tally to end the half. Beck finished the half with one more goal off an assist by Powers.  RWU was able to enter the half with a demanding 7-2 advantage. 

The Hawks had six unanswered goals in the third period of play. RWU's Nessa, Beck, and Power each scored their second goal of the game, and each chipped in with an assist.  Junior Kirby Sundquist (Concord, Mass.), sophomore Patrick Connolly (Wantagh, N.Y.) and freshman Luke Aubrey (Norwalk, Conn.) each netted a goal in the third. Sophomore Alan Williams (Bristol, R.I.) and Kyle Tracy (Bow, N.H.) were each given an assist.  Curry was held scoreless in the third stanza. 

Curry was able to score three of the final five goals in the game.  Castellano and teammates, senior Russell Lanham (Silver Spring, Md.) and sophomore Connor Arnold (Clifton Park, N.Y.) were the only Colonel’s to score in the period. Lanham and Castellano also credited with assists. Power’s and freshman Cameron Signorelli (Albany, N.Y.) were able to score the two last goals for the Hawks to end the game. Freshman Michael Kemmy was credited with an assist.

Michael Hibbard (Chelmsford, Mass.) had 18 saves on the loss for Curry.  In net for RWU was Luke Aubrey (Norwalk, Conn.) who had 14 saves on the win.
RUW won 22 of 32 face-offs but the Colonels had the edge in groundballs with 28 while the Hawks had 27.  Final shots were 44 in Roger Williams favor and 30 for Curry. 

Curry will travel to Plymouth State University in a non-conference match-up on April 11 for a 4:00 p.m. game start.  Roger Williams will host CCC opponent Western New England University on April 11 for a 7:30 p.m. start.
