Men's Lacrosse Falls to TCCC Rival Western New England 21-10
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Sophomore midfielder Patrick White (Milton, MA)
scored six goals with two assists and senior attacker Tim Santye
(Skillman, NJ) fired in five goals as the Western New England College
men's lacrosse team remained undefeated in The Commonwealth Coast
Conference (TCCC) with a 21-10 victory over Curry Wednesday evening
(March 24).
The Golden Bears improved their record to 4-3 overall and 3-0 in the
league. The Colonels are also 4-3 after dropping their first conference
contest.
Santye scored the first two goals of the game as WNEC took a 6-3 lead
after the opening quarter. White netted three of his goals in the last
2:20 of the second period to give the Golden Bears a commanding 14-3
lead at intermission.
White, who took nine shots, resides in Milton where Curry is located.
Santye also was proficient scoring his goals on six attempts.
Junior attacker Joe O'Keefe (Branford, CT) added two goals and three
assists while freshman midfielder Corey Johnson (Maybrook, NY)
contributed a pair of goals and assists. Junior midfielder Mike Santare
(South Salem, NY) chipped-in with two goals and an assist while senior
defender Nick Zaleski (Somers, CT) had a goal and assist.
Sophomore goalie Brewster Knowlton (Somers, CT) played the first three
quarters allowing five goals while making seven saves. Sophomore
midfielder Joe Martin (Springfield, MA) won 13-of-20 face-offs and
compiled 10 ground balls. Junior midfielder Colin Houlihan (Yorktown
Heights, NY) took 10-of-13 face-offs and picked-up eight ground balls.
Curry sophomore attacker Evan Hammersley (Lynnfield, MA) poured-in four
goals and had an assist. Senior defender Zachary Cavanaugh(Marshfield,
MA) finished with five ground balls.
Junior goalie Gordon Holmes(Brookfield, CT) gave up 16 goals and
stopped eight shots in 35 minutes, 30 seconds.
