West Springfield, MA - The Curry Men's Hockey team took down Western New England on Friday by a final score of 5-0. With the win, the Colonels are now 4-1-0 on the season, and 2-1-0 in CNE play, while the Golden Bears are now 1-4-0 and 0-3-0.

The game started out slow, but the Colonels dominated the first period, outshooting WNE 17-6. Curry was finally able to break through with a little over three minutes left in the first period when Victor Daigneault scored with assists from Jacob Crespo and Grady Friedman.

The Colonels would then double their lead three minutes into the second period, as Alex Duncan scored his first goal of the season. That goal was assisted by Manny Cabral and Shane Soderwall. The Colonels would add another goal later in the period, this time scoring with a Killian Rowlee goal, assisted by George Vonakis.

Curry wasn't done, as they'd add two more goals in the third. The first was a Henry Wilson goal, the first of his career. That goal had assists from Cole Weinger and Max Lundgren. The Colonels would close out the scoring midway through the third with a short handed goal from Alex Duncan, assisted by Karim Gayfullin and Jacob Crespo.

Shane Soderwall picked up his third shutout of the season, the eighth of his career. The program record is 10, by Lenny Mosca. He recorded his 8th shutout in his 85th career game, while Soderwall has played in 26 games. The program record for shutouts in a season is five, set by Soderwall last year.
