Men's Ice Hockey Earns Numerous CCC Awards and Honors

BEVERLY, Mass. - The Commonwealth Coast Conference recognized six Curry College student-athletes as the CCC announced the 2023-24 men's ice hockey awards winners and All-Conference Teams on Tuesday morning.

In addition, head coach Peter Roundy was named CCC Coach of the Year as he led the Colonels to an overall record of 20-5-1, a conference record of 15-3, and a place in the NCAA Tournament as the #10 seed.

Shane Soderwall (Algonquin, Ill.) was named Rookie and Goaltender of the Year. His efforts this season also landed him a First-Team All-Conference spot as the freshman posted a stellar 1.66 goals against average and a .942 save percentage while making a total of 475 saves with a record of 14-3 on the season.

Sophomores Matt Connor (Nottingham, N.H.) and Gage Dill (Estero, Fla.) were also named First-Team All-Conference. Dill ended the season with 27 points, 10 goals, and 17 assists, while Connor finished with 18 points on five goals and 13 assists as a defender.

Jesse Galassi (Lockport, N.Y.). and Eelis Laaksonen (Espoo, Finland) were named Second-Team All-Conference. Galassi finished with three goals and 11 assists as a defender while the junior forward Laaksonen had 27 points on 12 goals and 15 assists.

Senior captain Tao Ishizuka (Providence, R.I.) was named Scholar-Athlete of the Year, finishing with nine goals and 13 assists for a total of 22 points.

Curry College continues its season as the squad faces off against SUNY Geneseo in the DIII NCAA Tournament on Saturday, March 9th, beginning at 7:00 p.m.
