BEVERLY, Mass. - The #5 Curry College men's ice hockey team fell to Endicott College 6-0 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference Championship Saturday afternoon at the Raymond J. Bourque Arena.
With the victory, Endicott earns the CCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. Curry, which entered the contest ranked fourth in the Division III Pairwise Rankings, will find out if they have received an at-large bid to the tourney on Monday morning with a 10 a.m. selection show, which will stream live on NCAA.com.
Endicott opened the scoring just under five minutes into the contest on a goal from Zach Mazur that beat Curry netminder Reid Cooper (Corman Park, Saskatchewan) over the glove side for his 13th goal of the season. At the 12:50 mark of the frame, Endicott stretched its lead to two when Jack Ring tipped in a point shot. The 2-0 scoreline held until the end period.
Another redirected shot put the Gulls ahead by three just under seven minutes into the second. Eric Johansson tipped in a point shot by Jackson Sterrett for his first goal of the season on the play. With just 1:01 left in the second, Endicott found the net for the fourth time on a back-door tally from Primo Self.
Endicott scored an empty-net tally with just over seven to play, and scored again just a minute later to give the game its final score of 6-0.
Between the pipes, Cooper turned aside 37 shots in the defeat.
