#11 UNE Rallies Past Men's Ice Hockey

BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Curry College men's ice hockey team was slipped up 3-1 by #11 University of New England Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Harold Alfond Forum.

With the loss, Curry falls to 12-6-2 overall on the season and 10-5-1 in the CCC.

Curry opened the scoring 5:18 into the second period when senior Eetu Selanne (Coto de Caza, Calif.) found the net on the power play. Earning assists on Selanne's marker were George Vonakis (Abingdon, Md.) and Mike Pellegrini (Markham, Ontario).

UNE responded just over five minutes later on a strike from Jared Christy, leveling the score at 1-1 after two periods.

The Nor'easters scored twice in the opening five and a half minutes of the third period to grab what would prove to be an insurmountable lead. The eventual game-winner was scored by Jake Fuss, while Chris Jones potted the insurance tally.

Between the pipes, senior goaltender Reid Cooper (Corman Park, Saskatchewan) made 23 stops in the losing effort for the Colonels.

Curry will look to return to the win column on the road on Friday evening as they take on Nichols College at 7 p.m.
