MILTON, Mass. – Curry College Athletics has announced the implementation of the Summer Spotlight series, which will feature profiles of returning student-athletes and coaches across the Colonels' 14 NCAA Division III programs.
We continue the series with Tarek Paranica (Grand Forks, N.D.), a rising junior from our men's ice hockey program:
How did you get into your sport? My father played college hockey, so I began playing from a young age and just fell in love with the game.
Why did you choose Curry? The family atmosphere and the opportunity to play college hockey.
What hobbies do you have outside your sport? Golfing, fishing, and hunting
Are you involved in other activities on the Curry campus? If so, explain. I'm a member of the Curry club golf team and a member of Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society.
What is your dream job? Professional hockey player
What is your greatest sports moment? Haven't had it yet…
What is your favorite thing to do off the playing surface with your teammates? I enjoy playing golf with my teammates and just hanging out together at one of our houses.
Interesting fact about yourself? I can play the piano.
Three things on your "bucket list"? 1. Visit my roommates in Finland, 2. Go backpacking in Thailand, 3. Play a game of pro hockey.
Do you have any pre-game/pre-event rituals? If so, what are they? I have a handshake I do with Kalle Sundell and another with Mike Pellegrini. I do same stretch every game as well as the same puck handling warm-up.
