MILTON, Mass. --- The Curry College men's ice hockey team defeated visiting Suffolk University, 4-0, on Saturday night at the Max Ulin Rink in Milton. With the win the Colonels improve to 14-6-1 overall and 8-5-1 in the Commonwealth Coast Conference while the loss drops the Rams to 8-10-2 on the season and 5-8-1 against conference opponents.

The teams battled each other to a scoreless first period.  Shots were 14-5 in favor of the Colonels.

Curry took a 2-0 lead in the second frame and held on to it heading into intermission.  The Colonels got on the board first at the 6:05 minute mark.  Junior Zachary White (Milford, Conn.) one-timed a shot that sailed over the shoulder of Suffolk's sophomore netminder Will Ribas (Westwood, Mass.).  White was assisted by freshman Mike Snow (Medford, Mass.) and junior Lionel Mauron (Lausanne, Switzerland).  With 4:29 left in the period Mauron fired one into the back of the net with helpers from senior Adam Valadao (Ajax, Ontario) and sophomore Jordan Williamson (Okotoks, AB).  Solid play between the pipes from freshman netminder Frank Cundiff (Oceanside, N.Y.) held the Rams scoreless through 40 minutes of play.  Curry held the advantage in shots, 14-7.

The Colonels struck again for their third goal of the night at 10:33 into the final stanza.  Suffolk's junior Connor Parent (Danvers, Mass.) was called for a two-minute charging penalty giving Curry a man-up situation.  The Colonels capitalized on the extra man after a tally from senior Jarret Kup (Rosseau, Ontario).  Williamson and freshman Tristan Morin (Unionville, Conn.) were credited with the assists.  Curry netted their final score of the game four minutes later off a slap shot by Valadao.  Valadao was set up by freshmen Tyler Lindstrom (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and Kasper Kjellkvist (Vaxjo, Sweden).

The Colonels outshot the Rams, 31-15. Curry was 1-6 on the PP while Suffolk was 0-7.

Cundiff recorded 15 saves in net the win and his first collegiate shutout.  Ribas made 27 stops in net taking the loss.

Curry is next in action when they head to the University of New England on February, 2 at 7:00 p.m. in a Commonwealth Coast Conference match-up.  Suffolk also plays in a CCC contest on February 2 when they travel to Endicott for a 7:00 p.m. puck drop.
