Hockey Edged by Wisconsin-Stout at the Pathfinder Bank/Oswego Classic

OSWEGO, N.Y. -- UW-Stout scored three power play goals on their way to a 3-2 win over Curry College at the Pathfinder Bank/Oswego Classic at Oswego State Saturday.

The Blue Devils (4-8-0) took advantage of the one-man advantage twice in the first period, and then followed that up with the eventual game-winning goal by Logan Maly on the power play in the third period.

Stout got things going early in the contest when Jake Useldinger scored at 6:17 of the first stanza, with assists by Danny Ray and Riley Covard. The Blue Devils added their second power play goal of the period when Matt Millis scored at 9:10, getting assists from Ray and Corey O'Donnell.

The Colonels (2-7-1) cut the score in half when Brandon Gilmore scored an unassisted tally at 17:50 of the first period.

Following a scoreless second period, Maly got the eventual game winner at 9:13, again on the power play, getting the assist from Zach Vierling. Curry pulled to within the final score when Michael Vallescuro scored at 14:58 of the third period. Ellery O'Hara and Brad Deveraux were credited with the assists. 

The Blue Devils limited the Colonels shot production and Stout goalie Corey Koop recorded 19 saves. Curry's netminder, Brett Sinclair, made 24 stops in net.

Stout returns to the Midwest and will be at St. John's University, Friday Jan. 10 and at Concordia-Moorhead, Saturday, Jan. 11. Curry will host Manhattanville on Friday Jan 10. in a 6:40 p.m. game start.  (Game recap courtesy of UW-Stout)
