
MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 82-71 by the Wentworth Institute of Technology in a Conference of New England men's basketball game Wednesday night at Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.
With the loss, the Colonels' overall record falls to 2-18 while their conference record drops to 1-12.
Curry jumped out to an early lead in the first half with a Favour Okeke three-pointer putting the home team on top 9-2 just four minutes into the action. The Colonels held onto a slight advantage for the majority of the half, led by Jaiden Mann who jumpstarted the home team, coming off the bench to score a team-high 16 points and four steals in the half.
The Colonels refused to go away in the second, opening up the half with a three-pointer by Malik Gelinas to tie the game at 38-38. Later, a hectic sequence resulted in a fast break layup for Okeke that gave the Colonels a 47-45 lead halfway through the second. A barrage of threes put the Leopards back on top, as the visitors slowly extended their lead until a pair of clutch threes by Mann put the Colonels within four (72-68) with just under two minutes remaining.
Mann led all scorers with a game-high 30 points while managing to snatch five steals and grab seven rebounds. Okeke added 12 points, four rebounds, and four assists while Gelinas finished with 11 points and seven rebounds.
Curry College returns to action on Saturday, February 8th, hosting Roger Williams at Katz Gymnasium, tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
