Men’s Basketball Battles with Bison

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 93-88 in a competitive contest against Nichols College Saturday afternoon in a Conference of New England men's basketball game at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 1-10 and a conference record of 0-4.

The Colonels played a close contest against the Bison who came off a 72-71 victory over the #10 ranked Tufts University. Curry took a 23-22 lead halfway through the first half off a Malik Gelinas three-pointer but would be outpaced by Nichols who outscored the home team 47-37 by the end of the first.

Curry shot out the gate in the second half, sinking their first four field goals to battle back from a 16-point deficit and eventually take a 78-76 lead with just under five minutes remaining in the contest. The Bison, led by Javen Flowers-Smith, eventually regained the lead and staved off the Curry attack to earn the win.

Four players finished with double-digit scoring figures for the Colonels led by Francisco Lopez and Jeremiah Predin with 20 points each. Gelinas added 17 points coming off the bench while Shawn Charles finished with 10 points and a pair of blocks.

Curry College returns to action on Tuesday, January 7th, in a road matchup against Wentworth beginning at 7 p.m.
