BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Curry College men's basketball team came back to defeat the University of New England 75-69 in Commonwealth Coast Conference at Coach Beaudry's Court.

With the victory, Curry improves to 5-19 overall on the season and 3-14 in the CCC.

The Nor'easters came out the gate hot, opening up a 14-3 lead in the first 5:10 of the contest. A triple from Nick Johnson (Athens, Ga.) on the next possession began Curry on the comeback trail however, and it was the Colonels who led 35-29 at the break. Junior Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) led Curry with 10 points in the first half.

Curry opened the second half on an 11-0 run, led by senior Angelo Sardegna (Tampa, Fla.) with five points, to jump out to its largest lead of the night at 46-29. The Nor'easters were able to storm all the way back and briefly take the lead at 59-58 with just over seven minutes to play, but the Colonels rebounded quickly with a Tommy Mallinson (Wilmington, Mass.) lay-in to take the lead for good.

Sardegna served as the leading scorer for the visitors with 23 points, followed by 16 points from Torres. The only other Colonel in double figures was Mallinson, who pitched in 10 points, seven assists, six rebounds, and four steals.

Next up for the Colonels, they will close out the 2022-23 season with a Senior Day contest against Wentworth at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium. Tip-off is slated for 2 p.m.
