Men's Basketball Stumped by Roger Williams

MILTON, Mass. - The Curry College men's basketball team was knocked off by Roger Williams University by a final score of 79-56 Thursday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Dr. Eleanor Meyerhoff Katz Gymnasium.

With the defeat, Curry drops to 2-20 overall on the season and 1-14 in the CCC.

The contest began as a back and forth affair. After Lowelle Torres (Vineland, N.J.) tied the game up at 15-15 just under eight minutes into the contest, Roger Williams went on a 13-0 run to take a lead they would never vanquish. At the half, the visitors held a 41-27 edge.

The Hawks left no doubt upon emerging from the locker room, opening the second half on a 20-5 run to put the contest out of reach. Roger Williams would outpace Curry 38-29 in the period to secure the victory.

Eli Harris was the story for Roger Williams, putting up 39 points in the victory. Curry was paced by Jonathan Joel (Cranston, R.I.) and JayQuan Leonard (Plymouth, Mass.), who each notched 10 points in the loss.

Curry will return to the court on Saturday for its final road game of the regular season, making the short trip to Suffolk University for a 3 p.m. tipoff.
