Men's Basketball Tripped Up by Western New England

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - The Curry College men's basketball team suffered an 85-65 defeat at the hands of Western New England University Tuesday evening in Commonwealth Coast Conference action at the Alumni Healthy Living Center.

With the defeat, the Colonels drop to 2-15 overall on the season and 1-9 in the CCC.

Curry kept the contest close in the opening half, and trailed just 40-37 at the break. Sophomore Todd Robinson Jr. (Brockton, Mass.) was Curry's leading scorer in the first half with 11 points, while classmates JayQuan Leonard (Plymouth, Mass.) and Frankie Santiago (New Britain, Conn.) each notched seven.

Western New England pulled away in the second half, outscoring the visitors 45-28 to secure the victory. Leonard and freshman Will O'Malley (Boston, Mass.) each recorded six points after the break. 

Leonard led the Colonels with 13 points in the defeat, the sophomore's ninth double-digit scoring performance of the season. Finishing right behind him was Robinson Jr., who notched 12 points off the bench.

Curry will be back on the court on Thursday evening, continuing its road trip in Boston at Wentworth. Tipoff is slated for 7:30 p.m.
