Men's Basketball Upset 88-72 by Visiting Gordon College on Senior Day

MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team fell to visiting Gordon College, 88-72, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Colonels to 0-25 on the season and 0-16 in the conference while the Fighting Scots improve to 12-13 overall and 9-9 in the CCC. 

Gordon started the game off on a 7-0 run in the first 1:30 of the game. Curry got onto the board 1:51 into the half when Junior James Pina (Warwick, R.I.) netted a lay-up unassisted. Action would continue to be back and forth with both teams knocking down there share of shots.

Junior Paul Preziosi (Qunicy, Mass.) led the scoring for the Colonels in the first half, scoring 10 of his eventual 17 points while grabbing nine rebounds to almost achieve a double-double in the first half. Gordon took a 49-29 lead into the half.

Both teams traded baskets to start the second half, until curry went on a 9-0 run starting at the 13:08. Curry would cut the lead down to 15 with nine and a half minutes remaining in the game. The Fighting Scots offense was just too much for the Colonels to overcome, with Gordon going on to win by a score of 88-72.

Senior Tim Flanagan (Providence, R.I.) had a strong showing in his senior game, dropping 26 points, dishing out a team high in assists (3) and a team high in steals (3). Pina and Preziosi both amassed double-doubles, Pina with 18 points and 12 boards and Preziosi with 17 points and 12 boards.

Garrisson Duvivier led the way for the Fighting Scots, scoring 16 points. Sam Johnson recorded a double-double, with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Jake Hart dished out a team high six assists. Gordon moves onto the CCC Tournament as the #5 seed and will travel to #4 Endicott College. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 pm on Tuesday February 23.

This brings an end to the Curry Men's Basketball Season.
