MILTON, Mass. – The Curry College men's basketball team fell to visiting Roger Williams University 65-57 in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) action Thursday night. The Colonels fell to 0-14 on the season and 0-7 in the conference while the Hawks improved to 6-8 overall and 4-3 in the CCC.

The two teams traded baskets with neither team being able to pull away by more than three points in the first 13 and a half minutes. A jump shot from sophomore Jaylen Jennings (Norwalk, Conn.) finally put Roger Williams up by five with a score of 20-15 with 6:18 left to play in the first half. The Hawks finished the half outscoring the Colonels 8-7 to end the half at a score of 28-22.

Senior Tim Flanagan (Providence, R.I) led Curry with seven first half points and added three steals on top of it. Freshman Rael Handy (North Easton, Mass.) followed closely with six while playing the entire half.  Senior Josh McCourt (Lincoln, R.I.) led the game with 11 points and pulled down a pair of rebounds for Roger Williams.

In the first eight and a half minutes of the second half, the Hawks never led by more than eight before McCourt hit a three to put Roger Williams up by a score of 43-33. The Colonels never wavered down the stretch, continuing to trade baskets. However, the Hawks retained their lead and eventually worked to a final score of 65-57.

Curry was led by Flanagan who finished with 19 points going along with four steals. He was followed by junior James Pina (Warwick, R.I.) who finished with 15 points and led the team pulling down nine rebounds. Handy also scored in double digits, finishing with 11 and adding six total rebounds.

McCourt led the game with 19 points for Roger Williams and added a pair of rebounds. He was followed by senior Trevor Fahmy (Bedford, N.H.) who scored 14 points and had a game-high 10 rebounds. Freshman Austin Coene (Tyngsborough, Mass.) was right behind with 9 total rebounds and chipped in scoring eight points.

Both teams return to conference action Saturday afternoon at 3 p.m. as the Colonels host Nichols College while the Hawks travel to the University of New England.
