Men's Basketball Stays Unbeaten in CCC Play After 83-73 Win Over Visiting Endicott
MILTON, Mass. – Endicott College scored the game’s first 13 points, but Curry College recovered and topped the visitors, 83-73, in Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) men’s basketball action Saturday afternoon in Milton. The Colonels improve to 9-4 overall and remain perfect at 6-0 in CCC play, while the Gulls fall to 7-6 overall and 2-4 in league action.

Junior Bennett Knowlton (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was the catalyst for Endicott’s opening 13-0 run with a made jump shot, while sophomore Andre Makris (Southbury, Conn.) capped it off with a three-pointer. Curry chipped away and eventually took the lead (22-21) after junior Carlos Ribeiro (Charlestown, Mass.) sank a shot from beyond the arc with 9:23 remaining in the opening frame.

With 2:35 on the clock, the Colonels took their biggest lead of the first half (35-28) after senior Sedale Jones (Pittsfield, Mass.) made a three-pointer that capped off a 9-0 run. Both teams traded buckets throughout the remainder of the first period, as Curry entered the break with a 40-34 edge.

Makris gave the Gulls their first lead of the second frame after converting a layup with 11:37 remaining in regulation. After four lead changes, the Colonels took a 70-69 lead with 4:32 left in regulation after Jones made a layup. Curry maintained its lead throughout the remainder of the game, outscoring Endicott 13-4 over the final four minutes.

Ribeiro poured in 19 points, including four-of-five field goals from beyond the arc. Junior Lambros Papalambros (Quincy, Mass.) added 18 points and a game-high six assists. Sedale Jones and senior Ted Amendola (Hyde Park, Mass.) scored 13 points apiece, while sophomore Antonio Jones (Boston, Mass.) chipped in with 12. Amendola and senior John Durkin (Madison, Conn.) recorded 13 rebounds each.

Senior Lance Greene (Dorchester, Mass.) led Endicott with a game-best 20 points, while also pulling down eight boards. Sophomore John Henault (Lunenberg, Mass.) added 19, while Makris chipped in with 10.

Both teams travel next Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in CCC action, as the Colonels visit Western New England, while Endicott matches up against Gordon.
