Late Rally Comes Up Short as Men's Basketball Falls to Anna Maria, 85-80
MILTON, Mass. – Anna Maria College defeated host Curry College, 85-80, in The Commonwealth Coast Conference (TCCC) men’s basketball action Thursday night in Milton. The Amcats improved to 11-7 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while the Colonels fell to 4-14 overall and 2-4 in TCCC action.

Anna Maria opened the game on an 8-2 run, taking a lead that they would never relinquish. The run began and ended with layups by junior forward Brad Peterson (North Kingstown, RI). A 6-0 Curry run in the final 1:52 of the first period cut the deficit to six (37-31) at intermission. The run began with a layup by sophomore guard Eric Guglielmello (Paxton, MA) and was capped off with a made free throw by senior forward Michael Worrick (North Grafton, MA).

The visitors grabbed their biggest lead (69-52) at 5:53 of the second half. The Colonels continued to chip away, but could not erase the entire 17-point deficit. Junior Jarrell Jackson (Brockton, MA) scored nine of his game-high 28 points over the final four minutes.

Peterson led Anna Maria with a team-high 22 points. Senior guard Junior De La Hoz (Lawrence, MA) scored 18 and senior forward Derek Johnson (Worcester, MA) added 14. Johnson also led the Amcats with a game-high 10 rebounds.

Curry was led by Jackson, and by Guglielmello, who contributed 12 points. Junior forward Andrew Veilleux (Bar Harbor, ME) pulled down a team-high seven boards.

Both teams resume play on the road on Saturday, with Curry visiting Nichols (2:00 p.m.) and Anna Maria traveling to Eastern Nazarene (3:00 p.m.).
