MBB Knocked Off By Host Rochester 67-59 at Holiday Inn Airport Invitational
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Mike Labanowski (McQuaid) scored eight points in a game-turning 14-3 run late in the second half as the University of Rochester rallied to defeat Curry College, 67-59, in the first round of the UR/Holiday Inn Airport Thanksgiving Invitational at the Louis Alexander Palestra.
He finished with 11 points. John DiBartolomeo and Milan Moncrief led UR (4-0) with 15 points apiece. DiBartolomeo added eight assists, two blocks, and two steals. Moncrief had four rebounds, one block, and three steals.
Curry (0-4) was led by A.J. Stephens who had 21 points and 12 rebounds. Mark Mastrullo scored 18 points. He hit six three-point goals, two shy of the Palestra single game record for men.
Stephens scored 12 points and Mastrullo added six as the Colonels opened a 28-23 halftime lead. A jumper by Michael Connery put Curry ahead, 45-41 with 9:38 left. Marcus Roberson made a jumper to ignite the 14-3 run.
