Curry broke out of the gate on an 11-2 run, and shot 55% from the field in the first half in building a 39-24 edge by intermission.
The Colonels shot even better (57%) in the second frame, extending their lead to as many as 27 points (56-29) with 13:56 remaining. To its credit, Nichols fought back and managed to whittle the deficit down to 11 (64-53) with 5:22 left on the clock. Overall, the Bison held a 41-25 edge in rebounding, but could not slow the Curry offense, which finished 32-for-57 from the field on the day.
In addition to Jackson’s 20, Curry received 12 points from junior forward Michael Worrick (N. Grafton, MA), 11 from senior guard Mark Mastrullo (Billerica, MA), and 10 apiece from senior guard Philippe Jourdain (Cambridge, MA) and junior center Rodney Bennett (Mattapan, MA).
Nichols was led by senior forward Ryan Wilcox (West Granby, CT), who had game highs in points (21) and rebounds (8). Senior guard Chris Paquin (Barre, MA) added 13 points for the visitors.
Both teams return to TCCC action on February 3 at 8:00 p.m. with Curry hosting New England College and Nichols welcoming Anna Maria.
