
BIDDEFORD, Maine - The Conference of New England league offices announced Monday afternoon that three Curry College football players earned weekly awards for outstanding performances in Saturday's 30-16 victory over Alfred State.
Pete Jurovich III (Winthrop, Mass.) was named CNE Defensive Player of the Week. Jurovich recorded a team-high 11 tackles against Alfred State, including two sacks and 5.5 TFLs to set back the Pioneers a total of 31 yards and anchor the Colonels' defense.
Michael Moriarty (Rockland, Mass. ) led Curry offensively, earning CNE Offensive Player of the Week off the back of a season-high 232 passing yards and two passing touchdowns. Moriarty also rushed three times for 18 yards.
Omar Aboutoui (Methuen, Mass.) was a standout at kicker, earning CNE Special Teams Player of the Week thanks to three made field goals, including 25, 39, and 40-yard field goals. He also knocked down three extra points to contribute a total of 12 of Curry's 30 points.
Curry College begins Conference of New England play next Saturday, October 19th, with a road matchup against Western New England University beginning at 1 p.m.
