Football's Montie Quinn Sets Single-Season Rushing Record on Senior Day

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 48-27 against Western New England University Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference football action at Walter M. Katz Field.

Ten members of the Curry College football team were honored during a Senior Day ceremony before kickoff.

On the second Curry offensive play of the game, sophomore Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.) rushed up the middle and broke away from the defense, outrunning the Golden Bears to score a 76-yard touchdown and put the Colonels on top 7-6 with 9:25 remaining in the first quarter.

Curry scored again with 1:00 minute remaining in the first half when sophomore Finn Sullivan (Marshfield, Mass.) received the snap and kept the ball for himself, rushing eight yards for the touchdown, his first of the year.

Quinn scored again late in the third quarter, breaking away for another long touchdown run, this time a 56-yard scramble that cut the Golden Bear lead to 34-20 with 3:11 remaining in the third.

Quinn did it again with 3:33 remaining in the game, breaking away for a 49-yard run for his third touchdown of the game and ninth on the season. Quinn finished with a game-high 272 rushing yards. With his final touchdown, Quinn set the Curry College single-season rushing record with 1618 yards on the season. The previous record of 1,587 was set in 2003 by Raphael Zammit.

On the defensive side of the ball, Michael Sims (Baltic, Conn.) and Adem Kica (Oxford, Conn.) led the Colonels with 15 tackles each, while Leo Yardumian (Wakefield, Mass.) finished with ten.

Curry College concludes the 2023 campaign with an overall record of 3-7 and a conference record of 1-4.
