Football Battles With the University of New England

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 19-13 by the University of New England Saturday afternoon in Commonwealth Coast Conference collegiate football action at Walter M. Katz Field.

The only Curry touchdown was scored late in the second quarter by Junior Edison Thompson (El Dorado, Ark.), who scored his first touchdown of the season on an 11-yard pass from freshman Michael Moriarty (Rockland, Mass.) to leave Curry trailing 13-10.

Trevor Swanbeck (Dudley, Mass.) went 2-for-2 on field goals including a long of 39 yards to first put Curry on the board with 4:33 remaining in the first half. He also hit his only point after touchdown opportunity of the game.

Montie Quinn (Goose Creek, S.C.) led all players with 251 rushing yards on 30 attempts for an average of 8.4 yards per carry. Quinn's longest rush was his first, a 58-yard run in the Colonels' first offensive play of the game.

Adem Kica (Oxford, Conn.) led Curry with 14 tackles while Bailey Smith (Wilmington, Mass.) finished with 10. Michael Sims (Baltic, Conn.) and Christian Howell (Gloucester, Mass.) had nine and eight tackles respectively.

Curry College returns to action on Saturday (10/28) to host Nichols in a CCC matchup beginning at 1 p.m.
