Bill deLuze Named Gridiron Club Assistant Coach of the Year

BOSTON, Mass. - Bill deLuze, defensive line coach for the Curry College football team, was named Division II/III Assistant Coach of the Year by the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston last week.

"Coach deLuze is beloved by his players," said Curry head coach Skip Bandini. "He is there for one reason, and that is to build character in his players so they can have a positive and productive life after football. Coach deLuze is a great friend."

DeLuze coached a defensive line that featured Curry's lone First Team All-Conference selection in senior James Nyamwaya (Andover, Mass.). Nyamwaya was Curry's second-leading tackler in 2021, racking up 61 tackles on the season, including 22 of the solo variety. He finished the year with one sack, four tackles for loss, and one forced fumble. On September 20, he was named the CCC's Co-Defensive Player of the Week.

The 2021 season was deLuze's 17th season on the sidelines of the Curry football program, and 12th as defensive line coach.
