SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Freshman wide receiver Gabriel Desouza (North Andover, Mass.) and freshman cornerback Joshua Gabbidon (Orlando, Fla.) of the Curry College football team have both received weekly awards from Commonwealth Coast Football, the league office announced on Sunday.

Desouza was named the Offensive Rookie of the Week, while Gabbidon received Defensive Rookie of the Week honors following Curry's 49-27 loss to Western New England University on Saturday at Walter M. Katz Field.

Desouza set new season-highs in receptions and yards on Saturday in the Colonels' CCC Football setback against Western New England. He made eight catches for 130 yards, giving him a 16.3 yard per catch average. He also had one touchdown catch.

Gabbidon had a game-high 13 tackles in Curry's CCC Football loss to Western New England. Eleven of his tackles were solo stops with two others coming assisted. One of those assisted tackles went for a loss.

Desouza, Gabbidon, and the Colonels (1-6 overall, 1-3 CCC Football) travels to Becker College for its next contest on Saturday, November 2 at noon.
