Curry Football Staff Leads North Squad to 27-14 Victory in 2011 D3 Senior Classic

SALEM, Va. - The North Squad, led by Curry College Head Coach Skip Bandini and his staff, roared out to a 20-0 second-quarter lead and never looked back, winning the 2011 D3 Senior Classic, 27-14, on December 9 in Salem, Virginia.

Josh Carter (QB, Springfield) led the North team with his arm as well as his legs, throwing for three touchdowns and running for another. Derek Carrier (WR, Beloit) made a dazzling catch in the back corner of the end zone barely getting one foot inbounds to give the North the early lead. Carter connected with the CRONS Player of the Game James McCarthy (WR, Framingham State) for two more scores. McCarthy also filled in on defense and recorded two interceptions. Marcus Price (RB, Worcester State) had a big game on the ground, running behind a massive North offensive line that included Colonels’ seniors Brian Kureta and Brian Woollard. Bandini’s North Roster also featured Curry defensive back and 2011 team captain Chris Haddad.

Steven Rockwell (RB, Hardin-Simmons) and Steven Knight (RB, Mississippi College) led an impressive South ground attack. Rockwell scored on a bruising 21 yard run in the third quarter. Dan Wright (QB, Shenandoah) connected with Wesley Idlette (WR, Maryville) in the fourth quarter, scoring the South’s second and final touchdown.

With the 27-14 victory, the North improves to 3-0 in D3 Senior Classic history.
