Baseball Stumbles Against Leopards

MILTON, Mass. - Curry College was defeated 10-3 by the Wentworth Institute of Technology Tuesday afternoon in a Commonwealth Coast Conference baseball game at Jack Vallely Baseball Diamond.

With the loss, the Colonels fall to an overall record of 5-28 and a conference record of 0-12.

Aidan Finnegan (Amsterdam, Netherlands) led off the bottom of the second with a four-pitch walk and advanced to third on a double in the gap in left-center field by Kyle Doolin (Stoughton, Mass.). Brandon Polanco (Brownsville, N.Y.) drove in the first Colonel run with a sacrifice fly to right field to tie the game at 1-1.

Cam Barry (Manchester, Conn.) and Tommy Marshall (Hanson, Mass.) walked to set up runners at first and second in the bottom of the third. Later in the inning, with runners on the corners, Finnegan lasered a line drive single to left field to give Curry a 2-1 lead.

The Colonels extended their lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the sixth when George Calderon (New York, N.Y.) launched a double into right field to score Finnegan from third.

Unfortunately for the Colonels, a four-run seventh and a five-run eighth put the game out of reach for the home team.

The Colonels return to action on Wednesday, April 31st, to host Framingham State on Senior Day, beginning at 3 p.m.
