Curry Falls to Oglethorpe 1-0 in Season Opener

ATLANTA, Ga. – The Curry Colonels dropped their first game of the season 1-0 in a pitcher's duel against the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels. David Griffin recorded the loss in the contest despite a strong performance, amassing 10 strikeouts in 7 innings pitched and allowing no walks.

Both pitchers started the game off strong, with Griffin allowing just one hit in his seven innings pitched. Spencer Transue allowed just two in his seven innings. Curry looked to be threatening in the third inning, but stranded two men on.

The Stormy Petrels got on the board in the bottom of the third, when Brandon Fish reached on an error. Three consecutive balks would allow him to score and give Oglethorpe the 1-0 lead. That's all it would take as the Curry lineup couldn't get much going.

Curry returns to action on February 20, returning to Anderson Field at Oglethorpe University for a doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00pm.
