MILTON, Mass. – Curry College was swept by CCC opponent Endicott 9-2 and 15-0 in baseball action Sunday afternoon in Milton. The Gulls improve their season record to 18-7 (9-1 CCC) behind strong pitching performances from sophomore lefty Zac Poland (Essex Junction, Vt.) and senior righty Tyler Hill (Las Vegas, Nev.) as well as offensive input from several different players in the lineup. The Colonels fall to 6-21 overall and 1-13 in league play.
Game One
Freshman Mike Kochiss (Fairfield, Conn.) drove in three, sophomore Matthew Paola (Middlebury, Conn.) scored three times, and Poland (4-0) shut down the Colonels with seven strikeouts in a 9-2 complete-game win in game one.
Curry got single runs in the first and sixth innings. The first came home on an RBI single from junior Tanner Givens (Hamden, Conn.) that scored sophomore John Arens (Milton, Mass.). Arens scored again in the sixth on a ground ball by Givens that was mishandled by the Gulls' third baseman.
Freshman Mike Reiher (Ramsey, N.J.) lasted just 1.1 innings, giving up six hits, a walk and four earned runs.
Game Two
The Colonels managed just four singles off Hill, two of which came off the bat of Arens. Junior Matt Warren (Wilbraham, Mass.) and freshman Ben Riordan (Holbrook, Mass.) had the other two. Freshman Brian Burke (Swampscott, Mass.) took the loss, surrendering eight hits, a walk and six earned runs in four inning of work.
