Three Colonels Earn CCC Weekly Recognition

BIDDEFORD, Mass. - For the second consecutive week, three Curry College student-athletes earned weekly recognition from the Commonwealth Coast Conference on Monday afternoon.

Men's ice hockey graduate goaltender Reid Cooper (Corman Park, Saskatchewan) earned his second straight Goaltender of the Week award, while freshmen Jason Romans (Peabody, Mass.) and Lauren Dunn (Hanson, Mass.) earned Rookie of the Week honors for the men's and women's basketball teams respectively.

Cooper earned his first shutout of the season on Saturday evening with a clutch 34-save effort in a 1-0 win on the road against Salve Regina. Cooper was particularly sharp in the third period with the Colonels hanging on to the one-goal lead, as he made 15 of his 34 saves in the final 20 minutes.

Romans opened 2023 with a trio of strong showings for the Colonels. He averaged 12.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals, and 2.3 assists per game on the week, and capped the week with a career-high 18 points against Suffolk on Saturday.

Dunn was Curry's second-leading scorer last week, averaging 12.0 points per game over three games, while also averaging 3.3 rebounds, 3.0 assists, and 3.0 steals per game. Her strongest outing came on Saturday in a 16-point effort against Suffolk.

Cooper earns weekly honors for the second time this season, while Romans and Dunn each earn Rookie of the Week for the first time.
