MILTON, Mass. – Courtney Lima '20 is the next to be featured in our Alumni Spotlight series. She was an Elementary Education major and a member of the Curry College women's lacrosse and soccer programs.
Current place of employment: New Bedford Public Schools
Current job title and what does that position entail? Third Grade Distance Learning Academy Teacher - Teaching Third grade students full-time completely online.
How did being a student-athlete at Curry assist in preparing you for your career? Being a student-athlete taught me to be resilient. Take whatever life throws your way and make the most of it. Do what you can with the time you have and always lead by example.
What piece of advice would you have for current Curry College student-athletes? Take advantage of every minute you have. You never know if/when this opportunity to be a college athlete will be taken from you. Cherish every minute you spend with your teammates and form life-lasting relationships.
What is your most fond memory of Curry College Athletics? My fondest memories of Curry College Athletics are the preseason shenanigans with my soccer team and the Hilton Head spring break trips with my lacrosse girls.
What would you say were your greatest athletic and academic accomplishments at Curry College? My greatest accomplishments are graduating from Curry College with a 3.94 GPA and being named the 2020 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Why did you choose Curry College? I chose Curry College because it felt like home. From the moment I stepped onto campus for a tour, I knew it was the school I belonged to. I loved the campus and small class sizes. Everyone seemed very welcoming and I knew that I could see myself being successful there.
