MILTON, Mass. – Curry College Athletics celebrated NCAA Division III Week from April 1-7. The week-long event was a celebration by member institutions and conferences of the division's unique philosophy that equally values academics, athletics and student-athletes' involvement in full and rich campus life. Curry College's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), as well as student-athletes from all teams, participated in various community service projects and events all week.
On Monday, several student-athletes volunteered at ran booths at the college's annual Consent Day, an interactive event that gives students an opportunity to stand in solidarity with their peers to commit to only engage in consensual activities, be an effective bystander in preventing others from acting without consent, and to support survivors of sexual assault.
Throughout the week, graphics were posted across social media platforms highlighting Curry student-athletes on why they value playing Division III Athletics. SAAC members also sold "D3 Week Colonels" shirts with sales of $500 going to Team IMPACT.
On Friday, over 50 student-athletes and SAAC members participated in a campus cleanup to help Buildings and Grounds prepare for Accepted Students Day on Saturday. Members of the men's and women's soccer program also hosted 30 teenage soccer players from Dream Team South Africa, who were doing an athletic and cultural tour of the United States. The Colonels gave tours, lunch, and even a kick about with them on Katz Field.
Saturday the Curry Community welcomed over 700 Accepted Students to campus and SAAC members volunteered with the admissions office and helped welcome families onto the campus trolleys and helped them navigate their way throughout the day.
Sunday brought about a new event for D3 Week, The Colonel Festival which was co-sponsored by Curry Student Government Association (SGA). Down on the grass fields an ice cream truck, cotton candy, popcorn, and various lawn games greeted the campus community. Over 200 students came down and enjoyed the weather, music, and interaction with their peers. To read the full recap of Colonel Festival please click here.
During the CCC-wide SAAC Meeting held at Wentworth Institute of Technology, Curry SAAC members Spencer Feng, Abby Dubel and Nick Corso took part in the NCAA DISC Assessment.
SAAC and the Athletics Department would like to thank all of the Curry community for their help and support all week long.
