MILTON, Mass.- On Sunday, September 25, the Curry Men's Lacrosse Team participated in the annual Walk to End Alzheimer's Greater Boston Walk in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The team gathered together at this special event to collect signatures to benefit Alzheimer's research. The signatures the team obtained will be sent to congress to advocate for more research into the Alzheimer's disease.
The event began with registration at 8:30 a.m., followed by a ceremony at 10 a.m. and the walk beginning at 10:30. The participants could either participate in a one-and-a-half mile walk or a three-and-a-half mile walk.
The team was able to connect with many individuals, including the Mayor of Boston, Marty Walsh, to help spread information about Alzheimer's. The 2016 Walk to End Alzheimer's Greater Boston Walk has raised over 1.1 million dollars.
Held annually in more than 600 communities nationwide, the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's is the world's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer's care, support and research. This inspiring event calls on participants of all ages and abilities to reclaim the future for millions.
Today, more than five million Americans have the Alzheimer's disease. Unless something is done to change the course of the disease, there could be as many as 16 million Americans living with Alzheimer's in 2050, at cost of $1.5 trillion (in current dollars) to the nation.
